I was working on three photos of the same scene for a project, and my computer got all kinds of confused and produced this as a fourth image. If the Civic Hybrid were rear wheel drive and suffered from lack of traction this might be an interesting design, if the car remains as it does today it would allow for greater rear loads.
The drive train is still designed for a specific range of loads. There is also the issue of the rolling resistance and difficulty of turning an extra set of fixed wheels, lets not forget that this particular dual rear axle is also rubbing and would probably cause blowouts or fires. If the extra wheels steered this would possibly increase the already tight turning radius on the 2009 HCHII.
It does look nifty though. If I had the time I’d consider cleaning it up in Photoshop and making it into art, but I can see the final output now and I’ll save the time for more useful projects.
