A vehicle with a clean and waxed exterior will hold its luster for years to come, however the winter season comes with conditions that are less than ideal for a vehicle’s exterior. There are several reasons that winter weather is damaging to a vehicle’s exterior: the first reason is that in cold weather car owners tend to wash the vehicle less often, dirt and grime help degrade the paint faster. With less frequent washings comes the chance that any paint protections such as wax will wear off before being re-applied. Another reason for damage during the winter is during inclement weather there may be harsh chemicals flying up from the road surface onto the paint or water freezing to the painted surfaces as frost, or even sleeting and unprotected paint is especially vulnerable to any abrasion from ice or harsh chemicals.

What to do: Clean and wash your vehicle so that water does not puddle on the paint, but rather forms small droplets, if you see puddling it is time for fresh coat of wax. You can also have your vehicle professionally detailed.
