My 2009 Civic Hybrid and many Prius lined up for MPGfest.
For the weekend of 10.10.2008-10.13.08 I met up with CincyMPG (the hypermiling club out of the Cincinnati metro area) There were several speakers and driving clinics. We had plenty of antics to keep ourselves entertained ,Austin has admitted to his wrongdoings. Under the misunderstanding that my camera was left back at work I only snapped a few pictures with my cell phone (the camera was in my trunk the whole time with two sets of fully charged batteries).
For the trip to Ft. Thomas I attained 57 miles per gallon (MPG). On the practice run for the MPG challenge in my Civic Hybrid the score was a respectable 83.9 MPG. Then I had the honor of going on a driving clinic with Wayne Gerdes (of CleanMPG) and we did a ~20 loop through the Cincinnati metro area through some rather gnarly terrain, mostly on the interstates, and we managed to snag an impressive 89.5 MPG Thanks again for your time and experience Wayne.
On the return trip I managed to snag just over 62.5 MPG, it was good for at least five more miles per gallon, but I got discouraged descending a few of the mountains. This was the most fun four days I've had in quite some time, I wanted to write much more, but I've been putting off this recap for far too long.
The next day we went to Georgetown to see a few hybrids built. After the tour we met up with Bob Wilson and talked about the Bell the Hybrids campaign. (A fearmongering campaign suggesting that quiet hybrids are running over the blind and children)
